exploring the visual
my earliest childhood memories of consciously exploring the visual are from summers at the beach, when, chilled from swimming in the cool Pacific, I would lay prone on sun-warmed pebbles and watch new worlds form through my ocean-dropped eyelashes. by narrowing my eyes the refracted light would create scenes awash with colour and unusual forms. worlds would form in which seeing and feeling merged and sound faded.
exploring the visual is still a powerful influence in my life. i continue to be transported by the visual in incredibly blissful ways. today I look to art and design, fine art photography, digital weaving and more ancient processes like sun prints as processes to examine how I see and feel about them. today i see those moments as spaces that encourage me to look further.
